TECHNOLOGY

Dentistry has changed drastically in the last 50 years.  Dr. Smith has invested in advanced, up-to-date technology in order to diagnose and treat dental problems with the highest level of accuracy and effectiveness.  Dental technology enhances patients’ dental experiences. Modern dentistry is much less painful and time consuming for patients.

One extra precaution Dr. Smith  has taken to protect her patients from Covid-19 is investing in an Isolite isolation system.  When aerosols are created by high-speed handpieces, ultrasonic scalers, and other instruments that dentists use, the "spray" not only carries particles of water but also bacteria, viruses, blood, and saliva. These aerosols can contain up to 100,000 bacteria per cubic foot of air. One of the most important things a dentist can do to protect themselves, the patient, and their staff is to reduce aerosols and droplets (spatter, splatter, spray) with the continuous intraoral suction that Isolite provides.

Patients no longer have to deal with time-consuming traditional x-rays.  Instead, we use less-invasive, modern equipment to instantly produce high-resolution dental images. These images allow our dentist to identify problems sooner, requiring less radiation, and more conservative dental treatment.

Intraoral photography allows patients to view their teeth the same way Dr. Mary can see them through her high magnification loupes.  This allows patients to feel better informed and more comfortable with the dental services their teeth require.

Our iTero scanner enhances the patient experience and elevates clinical precision.  The compact, hand-held device digitally captures the structure of teeth and gums using the latest technology and replaces the need for uncomfortable, bad-tasting dental impressions during restorative procedures.  It is especially useful for Invisalign orthodontic treatment.

Before starting treatment, Dr. Smith’s patients are able to get a glimpse of what their outcome will be once Invisalign treatment is complete.  Clear aligners are manufactured based on the precise digital information taken during a scan.
